Wi-Fi and Roast Beef

This is my latest info on my cell phone wi-fi saga. I forgot to turn off the wi-fi hotspot on my phone last Wednesday night and while we were sleeping we used almost five GB of data. Kathi’s computer was off, so the data hog must be my computer or my phone. I am still investigating.

Pretty yellow flowers behind our motorhome
We drove into Austin on Thursday and had lunch with our oldest son, AJ. We went to Cracker Barrel, where Kathi had the Wednesday Special, turkey and dressing and AJ and I each had the country fried steak. I got mashed potatoes, green beans and corn and he got mac and cheese instead of green beans. It was another enjoyable meal at the Buda Cracker Barrel.

We also took him by the drug store to pick up prescription meds, then ran a few more errands, before taking him back to his apartment. We look forward to seeing him, but only drive into Austin a couple of times per week. The traffic on I-35 into Austin is always bad. We still get to talk on the phone no matter where we are traveling.

My sister, Carol dropped by in the late afternoon to give me an AARP magazine with an article about resolving knee pain problems. Much of the article was about surgery and providing information about how to determine if you need a knee replacement, how to select a surgeon and the problems that can occur after surgery. There was good information about how to alleviate the pain using glucosamine hydrochloride and chondroitin sulfate. They often inject hyaluronic acid into the knee joint as a lubricant for bone to bone contact. I get all these ingredients in the “Move Free” I take, but I may need to increase the number of pills I take each day.

A patch a fellow marine sent to our son, Christopher

Carol and Lloyd left Jim Hogg Park on Lake Georgetown on Friday, on the way to visit Lloyd’s brother and his wife at their home near Leakey, TX. I am glad they are traveling again and we hope to see them further west before the end of the year.

It has been getting warmer in Texas the last few weeks and it does not seem our air conditioner was trying as hard as it used to, so we thought maybe the filter was dirty and needed changing. Our filter in the motorhome air conditioner duct is 9” X 48” and no one makes an odd size like that, so I usually make my own filters. Last time I made one I brought two 20” X 25” filters and made one double thick filter that would fit our A/C. I thought doubling the thickness might be causing problems, so I went to Home Depot and bought a single 20” X 25” filter and cut it to fit  our filter frame. We will try this for a while and see it meets our satisfaction.

Kathi made a roast in the crock pot Friday night and we had roast beef, mashed potatoes and French-cut green beans for lunch and it was delicious. I still have a few leftovers I will finish today. We decided lunch was so good that we need to share it with AJ, so we drove into Austin late in the afternoon and delivered his dinner. I hope he enjoyed it as much as I did.

There were a lot of people in town and a lot of traffic on I-35. Most sites on the lake are filled, so there is a lot of activity in this part of Texas this weekend. I hope all my friends are enjoying life as much as we are.
